Re: “Eurowings leads in budget flights from Europe to SE Asia”, Business, December 16

The Nation got it wrong with its report that Eurowings is the first European low-cost carrier flying to Southeast Asia.
Norwegian Air Shuttle (NAS) has been flying to Bangkok for years and is the third largest low-cost carrier in Europe with more than 100 destinations in Europe, United States and Asia. It was named Europe’s best low-cost Norwegian this year for the fourth year in a row.
Norwegian seems to be a well-kept secret in Southeast Asia, and has now been totally forgotten after Eurowings was announced as being the “first” European low-cost carrier flying to the region.
For me, coming from a small country, it look likes companies from smaller countries don’t earn much attention in the big world.
I have never seen any reports in Thailand about the offers Norwegian gives on long-haul flights to and from Europe if you book online in good time.
This airline has a “Low Fare Calendar” covering an entire month, which makes it easy for people on a budget.
If you can only fly with hand-luggage of 10 kilos and a laptop, one-way fares in March to Oslo cost Bt4,564 and to Berlin Bt6,686; while in May the fare rises to Bt8,157 to Oslo and Bt9,789 to Berlin.
