Stop forcing the draft charter down our throats

The junta sends military students out to tell voters what the draft charter means, but Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam warns that people organising meetings against the draft “do so at their own risk”.

How can we cast informed votes if we hear only one side? The junta should encourage reasoned debate, with equal time given to both sides under rigorous moderators – not threaten them with “attitude adjustment”. Local universities and professional societies could moderate such talks in their communities.
The junta must not imitate American humorist Josh Billings’ tongue-in-cheek wit: “Every man haz a perfekt right tew hiz opinyun, provided it agrees with ours.”
