Ratchanok granted royal decoration
Thai badminton star Ratchanok Intanon was yesterday given a royal dec¬oration, the Most Admirable Order of the Direkgunabhorn, according to the Office of the Prime Minister.
The notice signed by Prime Minister Prayuth Chanocha said Ratchanok was awarded the insignia as she enhanced the country’s reputation by becoming the first player in history to collect three Super Series titles in a row – the Indian Open between March 29 – April 3. Malaysian Open between April 5 – 10 and the Singapore Open between April 12 – 17 2016.
The Thai is currently defending her title at the Asian Championships in China. After hearing the news, she posted on her facebook that: “It’s such a great honour for a citizen. Long Live His Majesty. ”
