BECTero and Channel 3 have come forward to support Thai athletics by offering support for two marathon runners at the upcoming Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro.

Support for Rio glory seekers Jane Vongvorachoti and Natthaya Thanaronnawat was the first step in a long-term partnership with the Athletic Association of Thailand that aims to produce more local athletes of world class quality, said the companies.

“We are delighted that BECTero has become our official partner in backing our athletes on the world stage. Our immediate focus is to sup¬port Jane and Natthaya and hope that they can win gold at the Olympic Games,” San Sarutanont, the president of the sport’s national association, said.“Both the athletes and their coaches are committed to working hard to achieve this goal. In cooperation with BECTero, we will hold the first half marathon, certified by the Asian Athletics Association  and the International Association of Athletics Federations.

“We believe that events such as this will draw the attention of Thai running enthusiasts and offer opportunities for Thai athletes to continue to improve,” San said of the newly struck partnership.
BEC Tero managing director Brian Marcar said the other aspect of the partnership was to help promote the sport in the country.

“BECTero Entertainment is more than happy to support the Athletic Association of Thailand, the athletes and their coaches. We will be publicising the work and success of the association as well as trying to bring in sponsorship. We will also hold the River Kwai Half Marathon Thailand Championship on October 9 in Kanchanaburi and expect over 5,000 participants.”

While offering insights into the Thai athletic team’s preparations for the Rio Games in August, Kenyan running coach Peter Titi Martu said the partnership could help bring major changes in Thai athletics.

“Our athletes have been training hard. They are ready, both physically and mentally. We are confident that we can bring home medals and make all Thais proud. The partnership between the association and BECTero is indeed one that will bring about positive changes,” he said.
