A higher price for foreigners is discrimination

Re: “Penang’s attractions are well worth the price”, July 29, by Niels Jeffreys.

The writer contends that I should “get over” complaining about paying a ticket to use a funicular train up Penang Hill, as the price is reasonable. I agree that it is not expensive. So there is nothing to get over! But it is discriminatory to charge one price for foreigners, and another for Malaysians. That was the whole point of the letter.  If Thailand is fair game for criticism, then so should Malaysia. I think that the writer is a person who wears rose-colored glasses, and should get over his love for the country south of Thailand.
