
The 24-year-old San Francesco University graduate appeared to settle for a runner-up when she was one game from defeat but then raised the level of her game, using impressive forehand and incessant chases of the ball to turn the tide and won the match in two hours and 16 minutes.
Ranked 704 th in the world, Ka who was born in France made history earlier this year when she became the first player from Cambodia to win an ITF event. As a qualifier, she won the tournament in Amarante, Portugal in July.
“It was my last tournament of the season and it is amazing to end it this way. I have been struggling with leg injury the whole week but I always believed it during all my matches and pushed myself in my limits. Even being down 2-5 in the third set in the final, I kept believing it and it paid of,” Ka said
For Hsu, the world No 423, she has yet to win a title since 2011. The 24-year-old has won four ITF trophies, three in that same year.
