German Altmaier Survives Tough Challenge against Min Heyok Cho

Daniel Altmaier of Germany came back from an erratic first set tie-break play to oust South Korean Min Heyok Cho 6-7 (5-7) 7-5 6-3 in the quarter-finals of the US$10,000 ITF Thailand Men’s Futures 5 at True Arena Hua Hin on Thursday.

The 18-year-old rising star is now in his seventh ITF semi-final appearance this year and will take on Kazakh Denis Yevseyev, a 6-0  7-6 (7-3) winner over South Korean Hyun-Woo Nam.

Second seed Soon Woo Kwon beat Vietnamese Nam Hoang Ly 4-6 6-4 6-3 to set up an all South Korean affair with Jea Moon Lee. Jea advanced to the last four after Adrian Andzejcuk retired at 1-6 0-5 with injury.

In the doubles semi-final, Kwon and Lee beat Thai hope Pruchya Isarow and Yuichi Ito of Japan 6-4 6-3. French pair Sadio Doumbia and Fabien Reboul beat Adrian Andzejcuk and Mateusz Smolicki of Poland 7-6 (9-7) 6-4.
