A sect whose days are numbered

Those seeking the arrest of the former abbot of Wat Dhammakaya should exercise caution. Many of his disciples have given their worldly possessions in exchange for a choice place in the afterlife. They are ready to die, since without their master they are beings without identities and the means to survive.

This organisation became a sect of the past when it lost its ability to amass untold wealth by allegedly laundering money for corrupt politicians and big enterprises. Thanks to its wealth and the support of its disciples, its agony might last a long time. There is no need for the government to rush – the fact that it will never rise again is the equivalent to capital punishment for the former abbot.
