Nothing wrong with no longer loving the circus

SUNDAY, JANUARY 22, 2017

Somsak Pola (Letters, Jan 22) asks me if as a kid did I enjoy going to the circus. Yes I did. I also enjoyed going to the rodeo, fishing and eating meat.

But when I became an adult I came to the conclusion that civilised human beings should not have fun at the expense of others. Since animals can suffer and feel pain as much as humans, abusing animals is as immoral and cruel as abusing humans.
Mr Pola, suppose your grand-children tortured dogs and cats, would you tell them that’s OK, or would you teach them that it’s not a good way to have fun?
