Duterte’s No 1 critic deserves a Nobel
Philippine Senator Leila De Lima deserves to be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. She is the courageous lawmaker who was recently arrested on trumped-up drug charges after exposing the atrocities of President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration.
It’s bad enough that Duterte is allegedly implicated in the slaughter of thousands of poor Filipinos (a five-year-old girl among them) by extra-judicial assassination. But his political hacks in the senate have passed a bill making it legal to try nine-year-old children as adults and to execute people for possessing large amounts of marijuana.
Just when the previous president Benigno Aquino had done so much to improve the country, the Philippines has now reversed itself and is going completely crazy.
