Chalermchai, 68, fainted during the BAT General Assembly meeting at Anoma Hotel in Bangkok around 7pm before being sent to hospital at the nearby Police Hospital. He died at 7.40pm.
The former Sports Authority of Thailand acting governor had high blood pressure and heart problem in his medical record. He used to undergo a bypass surgery.
Badminton chief Pattama Leesawadtrakul said Chalermchai died in the line of duty and had contributed so much to the local sport movements and to the development of Thai badminton.
