Trump, Comey and that meeting with the Russians

US President Donald Trump met with top Russian officials at the White House on May 10 – just one day after he fired FBI director James Comey.

At the time of the firing, Mr Comey was still conducting an investigation into the possible collusion between the Trump campaign team and Russia, to help Mr Trump to win the 2016 election.
The pictures of the meeting between President Trump and the Russians were published worldwide by the Russian Foreign Ministry. American journalists were barred from that meeting.
It is possible if the Russians wanted to plant eavesdropping gear in the White House, they could have done it so easily. White House security rules
stipulate that electronic equipment is not allowed to be brought into the Oval Office by any outsider.
The worst part is that, according to the latest report by the New York Times, President Trump told the Russian delegates that firing the FBI chief has relieved “great pressure” on him. He also described former FBI chief Comey as “crazy, a real nut job”.
Given that the US and Russia have been bitter adversaries during the past seven decades, President Trump’s reception for the Russians this time has described by many Americans as “extremely unwise” – to say it in the mildest form.
