Amateur Chakansim a winner again in Hua Hin

Amateur Chakansim Khamborn won back-to-back All Thailand Tour titles yesterday with a four-stroke victory over Nemittra Juntanaket in the final round of the Singha Hua Hin Open at the Royal Hua Hin yesterday.

The 17-year-old from Khon Kaen, who won the previous leg at Nakhon Nayok two weeks ago, fired a final round 74 for one-under-par 212 at the par-71, 6,676-yard course.

“All the hard work paid off. I kept telling myself to fight. It was tough but I somehow pulled it off,” said the teenager, who would be going back to Purdue University where she is a first-year student.

“I have to revise my lessons. I have an exam immediately when I get back to the US. I’m so happy to win two titles here during my university break.”

As Chakansim is not eligible for the prize money due to her amateur status, Nemittra as the first runner-up took the winner’s prize money of Bt32,000.

In the men’s event, teenager Suradit Yongcharoenchai shot a sizzling 62 for 13-under-par 203 to take the third round lead over Prom Meesawat, Chawalt Plaphol and Sutijet Kooratanapaisan by two strokes.

“I was putting really well today, which was the key. Everything just came together for me today. I hope to continue the momentum going into the final round. I have to play one shot at a time and not think too much,” said the 18-year-old from Nakhon Pathom who is looking for his first win.
