Jazz with a Central smile

One of the biggest easy listening jazz festivals in Thailand, the Central Pattana-organised “Thailand’s Smile Jazz Festival” is designed to indulge residents and locals with the rhythm of music.

The jazz festival brings together more than 200 artists to perform some 100 shows from this month until early next year at 10 branches of its shopping centres around the country including CentralWorld, CentralPlaza and CentralFestival.
The “Smile Jazz” festival will feature, among others, John Di Martino, the New Yorker who arranged the royal compositions for the album: “A Tribute to the King of Jazz”. He will joined by Vladimer Cetkar, a Macedonian musician who has been credited for revitalising such music genres as disco, soul, funk, acid jazz. Also coming to Thailand are Dutch musician Katherline Van Otterloo, renowned Austrian artist Simone Kopmajer, Korean jazz diva, Gloria Sim, American contemporary artist Richard Jackson, Brazilian singer and guitarist Veronica and Grammy’s award-winning guitarist Ricardo Vogt. They’ll be joined over the course of the next few months by leading jazz groups from Japan and the Asean countries. 
Local artists include the KU Wind Ensemble, Koh Mr Saxman, Thanis Sriklindee, Jennifer Kim, Maleewan Jemina, Suchart Chawangkul, Viyada Komarakul na Nakorn, Songsit Rungnoppakunsri, Saowaluk Leelabut, Charas Fueng-arom, Nop Pornchamni, Sunaree Rajchasima, Pancake Khemanit, Panadda Ruangwut, Singto Numchok, bands Jetset’er and ETC, Thee Chaiyadej, Noona-Nuengthida Sophon, Lookpad-Chonlanan Limthai, Thippan Sirinthip, Attarapon Chaisiri, Fonpa Pramoj na Ayutthaya, Duangporn Pongpasuk, Namfon Phakdi, Plaengpraphan Kingthong and Akaphan Wanwisuthi.
“Thailand’s Smile Jazz Festival” will travel around the country starting this weekend (August 12-13) at CentralPlaza Bangna followed by CentralPlaza WestGate and CentralFestival EastVille in September. 
The festival will then head to CentralPlaza Salaya, CentralPlaza Nakhon Ratchasima and CentralFestival Hatyai in November and CentralWorld, CentralFestival Samui and CentralFestival Chiang Mai in December 2017. 
The grand finale will be held at CentralFestival Pattaya Beach in January.
