Prawit’s wristwatches toll for thee, PM Prayut

Reading reports about the luxury wristwatch saga, one can’t help wondering whether PM Prayut truly understands that this scandal engulfing his deputy is a big, big problem – and certainly not one that the PM can dismiss as a non-issue.
What he calls a “private matter” of his deputy Prawit will in fact weigh heavily on the Prayut’s credibility as long as he remains Thailand’s prime minister – and not cease doing so unless and until this apparently inappropriate behaviour is corrected.
Of course, the PM can keep on supporting General Prawit, as he said he would – but at his own peril.
He can’t say, however, that he hasn’t been forewarned of this serious problem.
