Have your say … with more reason and less vitriol
Admirable, indeed, for Nigel Pike setting the record straight with historical facts.
The perennial detractors and inane hatred-spouting letter writers should first study history and the respective realities. Politeness and respect toward each other is a better way forward.
I wish to point them to a very clear quote on behalf of George Orwell, the author of “1984”, which applies to these writers: “There are some ideas so wrong that only a very intelligent person could believe in them.”
Let’s hope that “Have Your Say” can be a forum for more reasonable and reasoned opinions, less insults.
