Not one shred of truth in recent attacks on PETA

TUESDAY, APRIL 17, 2018

I was thrilled to learn that Somsak Pola thinks that PETA’s intentions are good while disapproving of their tactics (“PETA damages the animal rights movement with its disgusting ads”, Have Your Say, yesterday).

This is the same Somsak Pola who just a few weeks ago was writing slanderous garbage about PETA, suggesting they were crooks being paid “hush money” by Burger King. As with Robin Grant’s demented accusation that PETA wants people’s pets returned to the wild, there was not a shred of truth to this accusation either.
Several weeks ago PETA’s Jason Baker had a letter and a guest column published in this newspaper about the horrible way elephants were abused at the recent elephant polo tournament in Bangkok. Neither Messrs Pola nor Grant even attempted to dispute PETA’s well-documented evidence. So instead they turned this letter section into a tirade against PETA in order to take attention away from the elephant abuse itself. So while these two men are always questioning everyone else’s motivation, maybe it’s time to start questioning theirs.
