Flood-prone caves should be sealed off during rainy season
I pray that the 12 boys and their football coach stranded in a Chiang Rai cave since Saturday are rescued as quickly as possible.
I also hope we learn a valuable lesson from this gut-wrenching experience. During rainy season (June to October) the authorities must close down all the caves that are prone to flooding. I mean, not just rickety “no-entry” signposts, but impenetrable physical barriers and even razor-wire fences if necessary.
