Because the target range of 0.5-3.0 per cent (a gap of 2.5 percentage points) is too wide, it could be narrowed by raising the upper boundary less than the lower boundary, such as to a target range of 1.5-3.5 per cent (a gap of 2.0 percentage points). This means the inflation target as a whole will have been raised. Therefore, the policy interest rate would rise with it.
Since the government has given a sign for the BOT to ease its policy rate trend, it shouldn't worry about inflation. We should work together through relaxing both monetary and fiscal policy to boost economic growth.
