US prevents peace in the Middle East
I completely agree with the views of Mr Bullinger and Mr Ferriman.
But we must look realistically at the facts. As long as the US blindly supports Israel and no one speaks out against this, peace and a Palestinian state will not follow. Look at the situation. Palestine dared to apply to the UN for statehood and in response the US Congress placed a freeze on US$200 million (Bt6 billion) aid to the Palestinian Authority. Putting this in context, in 2007, the US increased its military aid to Israel by over 25 per cent to an average of $3 billion per year for the following 10-year period. US Defence Secretary Leon Panetta feels the US would make sure Israel maintained its military superiority in the region, but should use this advantage to press for peace. Money for guns, not food, is not the answer.
