Rural Thais have got the govt they deserve

While the authorities and people are fighting the flooding, and even small schoolchildren are busy filling sandbags to prevent the overflow of massive amounts of water, red-shirt leader Jatuporn Promphan has been organising opening ceremonies of red-shirt

The village entrance is decorated with pictures of Thaksin painted in red, all in the pretext of democracy. I am just wondering how many Isaan folk and others in rural areas in the North have a deep understanding about democracy? At the same time, TV Channel 11 appears to be a mouthpiece for Pheu Thai with party celebrities taking turns to show off the government’s work in fighting the floods.
If the government is indeed effective in flood prevention and alleviating people’s suffering, many provinces and industrial estates would not be underwater because this was forewarned and should have been anticipated months before. Thais are now paying for what they have done to nature and for electing a government they deserve. Wake up Thais.
