Voters duped over reconciliation pledge

A lot of people voted with hope for Yingluck to lead Thailand to harmony and prosperity, despite her obvious lack of credentials - so she has big expectations to fulfil.

Due to nature’s unfortunate timing, she’s had a torrid start, and one would think this government would prefer to avert controversy, given its pledge to bring national reconciliation. Why then does it choose to urgently pursue a pardon [for Thaksin Shinawatra], and in such a damaging, underhand manner? Everyone can see the massive street protests, confrontation and instability this is going to lead to, not to mention another tourist season ruined.
Under the circumstances, I can only guess that 15 million voters have been deceived and this government doesn’t give a damn about its reputation, responsibility, or the country it’s running. It cares about one single thing (or more candidly, person). I wish the flood would just wash this trash away; the poor of Thailand deserve much better.
