Lots of water but PM still flamed

Veteran writer Niwat Kongpien – “the Nude Guru” – often comments on female beauty, but maybe he’s been too harsh in his appraisal of Yingluck Shinawatra.

Sitting on a pile of soaked books in his flooded home in Lad Lum Kaew Pathum, a fuming Niwat laid into the prime minister on his website, without mentioning her name. “Her public-speaking skills tell me she doesn’t read books, and her gestures and voice show that she doesn’t listen to the music.”
She needs to evaluate her ability to run a country, he says. “It’s not a matter of training or being anyone’s substitute. It’s a grave mistake to try and do a job you can’t do.
“Even though I’m a man who adores women more than anything else, especially smart and capable women, I can’t stand her presence on TV and I don’t want to even hear her voice.”
She obviously doesn’t appreciate art either, he writes. “I could just conclude that from her style of dressing – a business look with very tidy hair ... From an artistic perspective, her straight face has so many elements out of balance, but look at the overall face and it’s just flat.”
Geez, Niwat, you done yet? Nope.
“Just imagine how she looks when she has no makeup on!”

Man of the mo’

The flood crisis has made a hero of Vikrom Kromadij, owner of the Amata Industrial Estate. He assailed the fumbling government on Thai PBS, offers free parking at Amata and (in unrelated news) donated Bt100,000 toward a fund to help rookies get on the Writers Association of Thailand.

Deeply moved

Fans of actress Nuengthida “Noona” Sophon came to her rescue when her home in Bang Bua Thong was submerged and her family had to evacuate. Members of her fan club helped move belongings upstairs.
Unfortunately, Noona reports, the family couldn’t take their cat along with them because they were moving into a hotel. But then – happy ending – they relocated to Hua Hin and were reunited with all their pets.
