The clean-up and the emperor's new clothes

On page 54 of a recent The Nation magazine publication, (40 things you need to know about the next 40 years) Lawrence Neal tries to convince that Pattaya is transforming into a "family-friendly" resort.

What kind of family is looking for child pornography being sold at midday on the beachfront? Who wants to walk up Soi 6 and be openly propositioned by scantily clad girls (much to my wife’s disgust; she was with me). Hawking is a global problem but it’s extreme at night for sexual services in Pattaya. A little research convinces the global population that Pattaya is a brothel in a country where prostitution is illegal. If Prime Minister Yingluck wants to take politics seriously, she needs to clean up places like Pattaya. It’s really sad to see a government complicit in “pimping” out its own people.
