If you’re searching for a gift or something to cheer up your home, you might want to check Apostrophe’s, a cute boutique on trendy Thonglor that’s owned by graphic designer Chanida “Oou” Oradidolchest.
Chanida opened her first shop back in 2008 at Chatuchak Weekend Market selling her hand-made fabric bags and ceramic decorative items.
In 2010, she quit her full-time job and opened a larger shop in Pure Place community mall on Ramkhamhaeng Road only to find that the amount of pedestrian traffic was too little for her business.
Last year, she relocated to the popular Seenspace community mall on Soi Thonglor and her funky designs are now attracting both local residents and office workers.
Although she has just 10-square-metres of space, she’s made of good use of it, designing curvy wooden shelves that match her style.
She uses imported linen and cotton fabric from Japan for her smart tote bags, handbags, plastic bag holders and pillows. They come with tartan, stripe and dot designs and in blue, brown, cream, black and white.
Chanida has also launched a stationery brand under the name Pepper Bakery, selling a selection of quality notebooks and pencils. Alongside, she presents cute wooden dolls, furnishings and magnet boards, inspired by animals and English words.
Her designer friends from Chiang Mai provide her with potholders and
coasters made from linen and canvas.
“I like to design my own stuff and enjoy sharing my ideas with others. I want my shop to be a lifestyle destination, where you can find everything for your home and for your life. My signature products are limited and some of my stock comes from Japan, Korea and Europe,” she says
Those items include white zinc glasses with messages and cute ceramic coffee mugs. Fashionistas will like the collection of shirts, denim jeans, shorts, skirts and shoes from Japan.
