I agree with many of the things in this letter. If Pheu Thai had been an independent body free of the influence of a criminal on the run, and refrained from completely focusing its activities on serving his demands, it may have gained some credibility. As it is, it has wasted a year in what should be a lost cause, for which it should get its just desserts.
I agree that the courts have not worked effectively. They correctly disbanded the Thai Rak Thai party but failed to punish any of the corrupt ministers in the government. The judges did freeze Thaksin’s assets but have not brought the criminal charges that should have followed for him or his family members who conspired in his activities.
If people are trying to wipe out Thaksin, there is ample justification for it. The criminal element in his red-shirt movement is on the front page of The Nation. The court’s judges are being openly threatened by a Pheu Thai MP.
