Who can you trust if the thieves are police?

There is every Tuesday an extra salary day for traffic police in Hua Hin.

The control point is in front of a school on Phetkasem Road – so the children there learn where and how you can earn extra money.
Black-suited police stop mainly foreigners, because they are perceived to have more money. A police officer stopped our bike and asked for my friend’s driving licence because the insurance, helmet and bike were all okay. The officer won. The licence has to be local, we were told. Pay on the spot Bt200 or Bt400 at the station. This police action started before 11am. We were stopped at 11.30, but at 2pm the money collection was still going on.
The media should do more to help end this mafia-like corruption.
