Expats talk a lot of nonsense about Thaksin

Re: "Speaker's suggestion has some merit", Letters, August 21.

I refuse to be anti-Thaksin simply because of the brainless, vicious things that anti-Thaksin expats in Thailand say, and because I do not want to be associated with that crowd, although I do recognise virtue in the opposition to Thaksin.
The more that Thais hear the venomous moral turpitude of expats in Thailand, the more Thais realise that they must go their own way and cannot rely upon the deficit-ridden guidance of expats – all of which I concede is a good thing.
Songdej Praditsmanont, neither vicious nor brainless, has highlighted the salient point about Thaksin Shinawatra: if he had entered into some kind of plea bargain agreement years ago, then today he would undoubtedly be a much freer (and happier) man than he currently is.
The entire exercise seems to have been one of prolonged agony.
