Chiropractors are probably happy about the mini-gadget craze. A billion people hunched over gadgets are sure to create a lot more neck, shoulder and back problems. Eye doctors and those who make and sell glasses can expect added business also.
Now, for the Pheu Thai Party and its promises of getting whole generations of Thai children glued to small electronic devices: Boo! Not good for kids’ development. Today’s children might be in their 20s or 30s before they realise that a prior gaggle of politicians debilitated them, and kept them from frolicking and enjoying the outdoors.
Currently, Thai schools are only required to offer physical education for one hour per week. Who will be surprised when subsequent generations of Thais are increasingly flaccid, blanched and dough-headed?
