Is this a kangaroo court calling for Sorrayuth to leave Channel 3 before the public prosecutor and the court have decided his fate? Is this pressure encroaching on his rights? The Anti-Corruption Commission’s recommendation for prosecution has not yet been followed up on by the prosecutor. Have any of the anti-corruption brigade read the transcript of Sorrayuth’s 6-minute defence? Do any of them know that under our Constitution a person is deemed innocent until proven otherwise in court? Constitutional rights are just as high a priority as good governance.
It took the Anti-Corruption Commission four years to conclude its investigation, while the anti-graft movement took 24 hours to render its judgement and call for the ostracism of this public figure.
I truly admire the anti-corruption movement’s policy and attempt to eradicate Thailand’s “disease”. However I fear that, in this case, the movement may be seen as corrupt in using its newly acquired persuasive power to bully and coerce an individual and Channel 3.
