With its high ceiling and loft-like design, Ardel Gallery of Modern Art is spacious and bright and it’s always home to a range of thought-provoking works by top contemporary artists.
But it’s a fair trek from downtown Bangkok to artist Thavorn Ko-udomvit’s gallery on Boromrachachonnanee Road, so the compact art shop stocked with functional and well-designed bags and accessories is a welcome addition.
Thavorn is known among his fellow artists and patrons for his good taste – not only in terms of the works he curates for his shows, but also in the products he uses. When he can’t find a functional bag or a camera case that suit his needs, he designs one himself and asks craftsmen to turn them into reality. His products have earned so much praise that he’s now developed a line under the brand Ardel Design.
The main material is genuine and high quality leather cut and shaped in a minimal but classy style. While some products are available at Roomconceptstore of Siam Discovery, you can only find the full range at the gallery’s art shop. Among them are shoulder bags, handbags and shopping bags made from leather, canvas and nylon, camera cases and tripods, mobile phone cases and straps, glass cases, T-shirts, belts and key holders.
The new collection will offer more accessories and will be unveiled at the BIG&BIH 2012 fair being held from Tuesday to Friday for trade only and which is open to the public next weekend at Bitec Bangna.
