Going the One Plus one better

HTC's new One X Plus connects fast on 3G and takes great photos too

HTC One X Plus is new smart phone that replaced HTC One X as HTC’s flagship smart phone for the Android platform.
One X Plus comes with better performance and features compared with its predecessor. It comes with a 1.7 GHz quad-core processor, which is about 27 per cent faster than the already fast 1.5 GHz quad-core processor of One X.
One X Plus comes with 64 gigabytes of storage, compared with 32 GB on One X. Both have 1 GB of working memory or RAM. One X runs on the latest Google Android operating system or Android 4.1.1 compared to Android 4.0 of a One X. On top of the Android OS, One X uses HTC Sense 4 Plus user interface, which is an enhanced version HTC Sense 4 used in One X.
The faster CPU, more storage and enhanced user interface translates in better performance of One X Plus. Moreover, its battery lasts 37 per cent longer than One X’s. Like its predecessor, One X Plus supports 3G connection of HSPA on all frequencies in Thailand, including 850 MHz and 900 MHz bandwidth.
I tested One X Plus on TrueMove H’s 850 MHz HSPA network and I was impressed in the fast connection speed and good performance of the phone.
The phone’s touch screen and menus were responsive. And scrolling of screens was smooth and fast. The game play on the handset was fast and smooth and its 4.7-inch super LCD 2 screen with 720p HD resolution is good for watching video.
During the test, I managed to download and install or upgrade applications very fast on the 3G connection. I updated and checked the feed on my Facebook page fast. Snapshots captured with One X Plus could be uploaded to Facebook very fast as well. Checking in to my current locations on the Foursquare application was done without problem.
Like its predecessor, One X Plus comes with very good camera. Its 8 megapixel main camera features bright f/2.0 28mm wide-angle lens and it uses BSI (backside illuminated) sensor which is good for capturing shots in low-light condition.
The camera is capable of continuous shooting at the speed of 4 shots per second up to 99 shots per press of the on-screen shutter button.
The test found that One X Plus really captured outstanding snapshots. Portraits look beautiful and landscape photos also had good details. It also captured night lights beautifully with the Night shot mode. It also has HDR shooting mode that captures photos with very good details throughout the scene.
The camera can also record 1080p Full HD video.
One X Plus has Beats Audio technology built in so it can be used as a very impressive MP3 player. Testing with Sony’s premium in-ear earphones, I enjoyed music played on One X Plus with deep base, crisp vocals and details sounds.
One X Plus comes with free access to use Dropbox online storage of 25 GB for two years.
HTC One X Plus retails for Bt21,900.
