Fighting off travelling pickpockets

Fighting off travelling pickpockets

Tumi's new line of luggage offers technology |to prevent identity theft

With identity thieves constantly finding new ways to tap into personal information, protection of your passport, credit cards and other important documents is even more crucial, especially when you’re travelling.

American luxury luggage brand Tumi offers a solution with its Ticon collection, which was launched recently aboard a plane belonging to charter firm MJets at Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport.
The new bags come with a specially constructed pocket for those things you definitely don’t want to lose.
Selected small bags and cases also feature the Tumi ID Lock, a proprietary technology designed to protect personal data encoded on most IDs, credit cards and passports.
Thanat Atchatavivan, director of investment for Minor International Plc and a regular user of the MJet service, says he has absolute confidence in Tumi’s security innovation.
“Time is my most precious resource. You can never get it back. And all personal information is truly important,” he says.
“Tumi bags have three qualities that impress – function, innovation, and technology. You can never know how a thief would use your information. Protection is a challenge for all product development,” Thanat says.
The Ticon collection for spring-summer is comprised of best-selling Tumi styles, among them the international carry-on, backpack, sling and slim flap brief. All are offered in Tumi’s classic black ballistic nylon and in black, brown and tan leather.
The ballistic nylon magazine tote adds more colours, including raspberry, marigold, bone and black.
From travel cases and satchels to messenger bags, briefcases and a selection of small leather goods, all the items in the Ticon collection are stamped with Tumi’s signature design.
