O!Play TV Pro is a high-definition movie player that lets you easily share photos and video clips you are watching on your Facebook wall.

The player’s remote control has a “Like” button that you can push while viewing photos or video clips on TV while using the player and upload them to your Facebook wall. But you need to stay logged on to your Facebook account, using the O!Play app that is part of the system of the O!Play TV Pro. And the video clip needs to be short enough not to exceed the limits of Facebook’s storage.

Apart from playing Full HD movies, O!Play TV Pro can give Internet TV function to your Plasma or LCD TV if it lacks the function.

The player comes with the Facebook app and Web browser, but it’s a little inconvenient to “type” with the remote control. When you need to type a web address or your username and password for the Facebook app, O!Play TV Pro will display an on-screen keyboard, which you need to use the remote control to move around and select the characters one by one. If you want to use it for Internet TV function, you should buy a wireless keyboard and mouse to use with the player.

The system software also provides access to the Picasa and Flickr web album services so you can enjoy online photos on your big-screen TV. You can also enjoy Internet radio and Internet TV stations by using the Muzee and Launchpad apps. The software also provides access to YouTube clips.

O!Play TV Pro also has a built-in Wireless N adapter for connecting to the Internet fast. It also supports streaming music and movie files from your notebook or desktop computer.

O!Play TV Pro can function as an excellent HD movie player and it comes with all you need to enjoy HD movies.

O!Play TV Pro supports over 50 major digital formats, including ISO, mkv, rm/rmvb, mva, avi, vob ifo, mpeg1/2/4, mp4. It also supports 3D video formats (H.264 MVC, ts, m2ts, BD-iso) and it comes with HDMI 1.4 port for transferring huge data of 3D movies to your 3D-enabled TV. The 3D movie function was not tested as my TV does not support 3D movie playback.

You don’t need an external hard drive dock to play movies on O!Play TV Pro because it has an internal 3.5-inch hard drive bay that can house up to a 3TB SATA hard drive. It is very easy to install the hard drive into the bay. You simply push a button on the HDD panel and pull out a tray and put a hard drive into the tray and push the tray back.

O!Play TV Pro also supports networking-attached storage (NAS) for convenient file sharing and management among multiple media, devices, and standards such as iTunes, SAMBA, FTP and BT.

If you want to play movies stored on an external hard drive, you can use O!Play TV Pro’s USB 2.0 port or USB3.0 port. It also has a SD/MMC/MS/xD memory card slot for playing photos or video clips on your memory card.

O!Play TV Pro has a optical digital audio port and a coaxial digital audio port for connecting to your A/V receiver.

I used O!Play TV Pro to play Full HD 1080p movies to my 51-inch Samsung Series 5 Plasma TV and was impressed in the picture quality. The movie was very colourful and clear and O!Play TV Pro played the movies smoothly without problem. The movies had clarity and good depth dimension. I didn’t test 3D movies as my TV does not support them.

For example, I played “Shaolin” movie in MKV format smoothly although the movie used to crash other players. I enjoyed watching an AC/DC concert in full BD-backup format. The picture was bright and beautiful.

O!Play TV Pro has a suggested retail price of Bt8,900.
