More on T's trials and the rice 'subsidy'

Re: "Half-truths used to defend Thaksin", Letters, June 10.

Khun Vint Chavala, let me give you an anecdote.
In 2011 in the US, a judge named Richard Baumgartner was forced to resign after admitting he had a drug addiction, thus impairing his ability to conduct fair trials during the last two years on the bench. As a result, all trials in those last two years that Baumgartner presided on were retried. When someone is convicted, it must be “beyond a reasonable doubt”. Thaksin’s cases are full of question marks.
Meanwhile, about the rice issue, most people misunderstand subsidy. Subsidy is not about loss or profit; it is about financially supporting a private industry. Have you ever heard of country X’s profit from farm subsidy reaching an all time high? Of course not. If you want to clobber the government, it should be about how it manages rice paddy stockpiled in warehouses.
