Tip to waitresses: start paying attention

First of all, let me say that I admire Stephff immensely. As I have said before in these columns, Stephff, in my opinion, is by far the best cartoonist in the English-language press.
Having said that, I have to take issue with him over his cartoon of July 22. As a long-term resident and observer of the scene in many restaurants, I have to say that waiters usually are more attentive to the needs of guests than waitresses are. Owners of good restaurants will probably agree with me, but might not like to say so.
This observation has nothing to do with misogyny. Perhaps waiters are more objective than waitresses.
