Dump amended law but not the government

Now that Prime Minister Yingluck has promised to withdraw all versions of the amnesty bill, some are seeking to overthrow the government.

I have no problem with Pheu Thai being ousted from power – but it must be through the ballot box, not through a non-democratic method like mob pressure. We get the government we deserve, and if we think we deserve better, the way to change things is to vote for somebody who offers an alternative that’s better and is feasible.
Rather, what we should do now is follow the seer Laocoon’s advice to the Trojans: “Beware of Greeks bearing gifts”, meaning be wary of those who intend you no good. Thaksin Shinawatra might have lost this skirmish, but he will be back at the first opportunity. This whole conflict could have been avoided if he had followed the example of Abhisit Vejjajiva, Suthep Thaugsuban, the Army and protest leaders and declared that he did not want an amnesty. But he did not do so. To me, he gave up justice for the 92 killed in the unrest to save himself. And that is why Nattawut Saikua et al saw through him and abstained in the vote on the amended amnesty bill. If Thaksin can give up his disciples, would he care for you and me?
Learn from this, and mature politically.
