NIDA told us that the complaint of high fuel prices in Thailand is a myth. Evidently some economic schooling is strange, as NIDA didn’t take into account the difference in buying power from people in other countries. For example, the difference in buying power between the Netherlands and Thailand is about 5 to 6 times. This means fuel prices here should be multiplied by this factor to make a comparison possible. In other words the price of a litre of petrol in Thailand (Bt40) is about Bt240 compared to a price
of about Bt85 in the Netherlands (a country notorious for high fuel prices), which tells us that fuel prices in Thailand are the highest in the world.
High fuel prices a myth?!
