The government should accept the truth

The government of PM Prayut Chan-o-cha has to stop seeking to solve Thailand's political problems with authoritarian action and begin listening to the people.

Although Deputy PM and Defence Minister Prawit Wongsuwan insists that the government can accept criticism, authorities continue to suppress people’s rights. This is not a viable solution to our political ills. Managing political issues by using authority to control citizens is not appropriate behaviour for a modern society. Thai citizens are now awake to political issues, but the government is responding by trying harder to control everything. As a result, few of us can express our attitudes about how the government is working and the political strategy it is adopting.
As the people try to share what they feel about politics, the government is trying harder to suppress those feelings in an authoritarian manner. That’s why Thailand remains stuck with political problems and why society isn’t ready for national reform.
