The coup in 2006 was to root out corruption in government. It failed. The coup in 2014 had the same aim.
The Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC) has drafted a new charter. Its major success is a voting system that denies the Democrat Party any chance of participation in government. All the other parties that have stuck like glue to the various versions of the Thaksin regime are primed for business as usual after the next election. The National Reform Council is prepared to start a week-long debate on the draft constitution. It might take half an hour to discuss all the measures it has taken to fight against government graft.
