Donald Trump is a breath of fresh air

Ref: "Hillary snappiest, but will she be trumped?", Letters, October 16.

One thing has been made quite clear – career politicians in the US are out of favour. The electorate is realising that the main interest of these professionals is to get re-elected at any cost. They have to say the right things to and about the right people and woo the media with carefully prepared speeches. But once in office, their sponsors expect favours, which might be adverse to national interests.
Donald Trump has a track record of getting things done. There are many tangible examples of his achievements. With Trump, what people see is what they will get, a tough dealer opposed to political correctness. He calls a spade a spade. Above all he is a man who places the interests of his country above all else. He has no ulterior motive to become rich and famous. He already is. Using his own money in the campaign leaves him free of any allegiance to sponsors. As an exemplary family man, his policy is strictly no drugs, no alcohol and no tobacco.
Hillary Clinton is very much part of the political establishment. She would produce more of the same like the Iran deal and the Benghazi catastrophe when the US ambassador was murdered. She is a known quantity of predictability and partially responsible for the present state of the USA.
Politicians and their campaign managers regard Trump with derision. Ironically, Jeb Bush suggested Trump should grow up and wear big boy’s trousers, but such attacks seem to backfire and become self-derisory. Trump to the status quo is a phenomenon from the real working commercial world.
The point is that the electorate identifies with his work ethic and that is what matters. As president he could bring a breath of fresh air, not only to Washington, but also to the whole world and particularly Europe. His practical common sense could be just what is required at the moment.
Hopefully, Hillary, and the whole political fraternity, will be Trumped. Donald does seem to hold all the cards.
