The difference between human rights and political agendas

If JC Wilcox wants to write nonsense, he has to make it believable. No sane person is going to believe that every Muslim hates every Jew and that this is the reason for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. As I noted in my original letter (“Israel exploiting holocaust to justify its own Nazi-like policies”, October 29), the Jews and Palestinians lived together in peace for hundreds of years prior to the Zionist movement. I also have had Muslims friends who are far more tolerant than Mr Wilcox.

While I condemn all rights abuses – including those committed by Muslims (note my recent letter on female circumcision) – Mr Wilcox is very selective when it comes to condemning abuses, and he gives Israel and Thailand a free pass. And that’s because he has a political agenda.

My only agenda is to promote human and animal rights. I play no favourites. I make no exceptions. And I don’t back down one inch fighting for the oppressed – human or non-human.
