A problem with semantics and comprehension

The hackneyed criticism of Donald Trump continues with the accusations of racism and bigotry and being anti-Latino and anti-Muslim.

Trump is in favour of legal immigration but strongly opposed to illegal immigration. That stance has absolutely nothing to do with racism or bigotry, but everything to do with the law.
It is perfectly rational to deny entry to anyone with a criminal record or known criminal intent. In fact it is the duty of those in authority to protect their people and keep their country secure with border control. It is a fact that criminal fraternities are freely entering the US from Mexico, where there is a great deal of crime. Keeping out criminals is not racist – it’s common sense.
Donald Trump has never called for a permanent ban on all Muslims entering the United States. He called for a temporary ban until the immigration authorities establish a secure means of identifying Muslim immigrants with ill intent.
The greatest threat to contemporary society worldwide is Islamic fundamentalists. Immigration authorities have a duty to deny them entry while allowing moderates entry by legal means. That’s not bigotry. Muslims are not a race, so vetting them at entry is not racist.
A country without borders and laws is not a country. The anti-Trump lobby would do well to realise that not understanding this fact, together with their lack of comprehension of the English language and semantics, reflects badly on them rather than on Donald Trump.
