The 29-year-old, with a record of 33 wins and two losses under his belt, looked every inch like a man full of confidence after finishing his workout in front of the Thai media at Nakhonloung Gym.
“I’m happy to come over here. My staff and I are ready for the upcoming fight. This belt is very important and we hope to take it back to our country.
“I met Nawaphon for the first time yesterday when we went for the medical checkup. He has a strongly-built body. I’m confident about my fight. I want to finish him off as quickly as possible. I got acclimatised to the conditions already and it poses no problems,” said the No 2 challenger in the 112-pound division.
After watching Hernandez’s workout, Surachart Pisitwuttinan, Nawaphon’s promoter, has backed the top-ranked home fighter to emerge winner.
“We knew that he wasn’t showing the skills he has. However, we saw that he can throw his punches very quickly and his left hook was lethal. We are prepared for everything and Nawaphon will handle him.
“Nawaphon holds the height advantage as he is 10cm taller than the opponent. Nawaphon can box in either “boxer” or “fighter” style. We will use the opening two rounds to see how things go. If Nawaphon looks slower than him, we will make him shift to “fighter “style immediately.
“I’m confident Nawaphon won’t disappoint his fans and he could knock him out in seventh or eighth round,” Surachart said of his boxer, who added more gloss to his unbeaten record with 24 knockouts.
