A POWERFUL and sleek Ultrabook-style computer that features 4K display, fast performance and a convertible design, the Lenovo Yoga 910 is powered by Intel’s latest 7th Gen Core i7-7500U running at 2.7 GHz.
It’s equipped with a hefty 16 gigabytes of working memory or RAM, uses a fast 512 GB Solid State Drive (SSD) and runs on Window 10 Pro operating system.
But really makes the Yoga 910 outstanding is its 13.9-inch UHD LED display with 4K (3840x2160 pixel) resolution. Boasting a near edgeless design and a 5mm bezel, it offers 10-per-cent more screen area, a 14-per cent-increase in pixel density and 100-per-cent sRGB colour gamut coverage that makes all the difference when viewing photos and videos.
Games and web pages also look crisp on the 13.9-inch screen thanks to the high pixel density. If you have a Netflix account, you can stream 4K movies to watch on the notebook.
Apart from the beautiful display, Yoga 910 also enhances music and movie sounds with its Dolby Audio Premium system. It uses JBL stereo speakers and dual array microphones with noise cancelling technology to minimise background noise, which is good for video calls or voice chatting with friends.
The Yoga 910 also comes with a good security system. It’s embedded with an advanced fingerprint reader that you can use to log on to the notebook with the Windows Hello function. This is very convenient because you don’t have to type a long password to log onto the Windows 10 system.
The Yoga 910 has good battery life of up to 15.5 hours. Moreover, it comes with a USB always-on port for recharging your mobile device on the go.
The notebook also has a USB 3.0 Type-C port with video output, a USB 2.0 Type-C for recharging its battery and that USB 3.0 port with always-on charging function. I loved the full-size USB 3.0 port because most Ulrabook computers now come with tiny Type-C ports that require adapters if you want to use a mouse or external hard drives.
The Yoga 910 also comes with fast wireless Wi-Fi 802.11ac connection. I connected with Linksys EA8500 Max-Stream router and enjoyed streaming Full HD movies from my iflix account to watch on the crisp, sharp display of Yoga 910.
As its name implies, the Yoga 910 can be converted from laptop mode to Stand, Tablet and Tent. Fold the screen back 360 degrees to the back of the keyboard with the keyboard pointing out and you’re in Tablet mode. Flip the screen to a 90-degree angle with the keyboard facing the desk and that’s Stand mode. Push the screen further, rotate the computer so the edge of the screen and keyboard rest on your desk in a tent shape, and yes, you’re in Tent mode. The Stand mode is for making presentation, Tent mode is for watching videos while the Tablet mode is for browsing the web.
The secret behind the convertible feature is Lenovo’s signature watchband hinge. That watchband hinge now provides an even smoother, more accurate transition between modes.
During the test, I was impressed with its performance. It started up and shut down fast. HD video clips played smoothly and applications, such as Microsoft Office, ran fast. The JBL stereo speakers sounded impressive too. And I loved the crisp display that made e-book reading easy on the eyes.
The fingerprint reader worked well with Windows Hello to log on to Windows 10 without the need to key in a password.
Yoga 910 comes in a stylish all-metal unibody design, is made of aluminium and is only 14.3mm thick. Colour choices include Champagne Gold, Platinum Silver and Gunmetal colours. The notebook weighs only 1.38 kg so it can be carried around conveniently too.
Lenovo Yoga 910 retails for Bt69,990.
