Peleg and the “New Frontiers”

Shahar Peleg, the founder of Peleg Design, will share his thoughts on how new dynamics can turn an old concept into something more exciting

As part of this year’s Bangkok Design Festival, Shahar Peleg, the founder of Peleg Design, will share his thoughts on how new dynamics can turn an old concept into something more exciting in the talk, “The New Frontier: Design and Selling Your Design Online”, taking place on Wednesday (March 29) at 1.30pm at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre.
Peleg will discuss the dramatic effects of the growth and value of online business in today’s digital culture. Online funding and social media channels allow designers to take on an entrepreneurial role, adapting and utilising these new business opportunities to create their own brands. Through websites and other online media channels, it’s now easy to establish and sell their own products to customers directly.
Founded in 2004 in Israel, Peleg Design revolves around three basic principles: functionality, aesthetics, and humour. It bills itself as a brand motivated by curiosity and its main purpose is to transform an average product into an innovative and truly exciting design experience.
Among the brand’s famous and clever products is the Jumbo Drainer shaped like an elephant. From the elephant’s trunk, the spare water is released immediately into your sink. All you have to do is to place the drainer close to your sink and make sure its trunk is hanging over the edge.
The playful and colourful bookmark, designed like a zipper, will tell you exactly where you should read on from while an eggcup comes in the form of a knight in shining armour.
