After flunking first big test, Trump must learn fast

Critics are having a field day picking apart President Donald Trump’s failure to force through a House vote for the healthcare bill he sponsored – this despite the Republican Party having majority control across the White House, the Senate and the House of Representatives.

Trump has boasted at rallies: “We will be winning, winning and winning – you will get so tired of winning!”
Now, Trump and the Republican Party must reflect on their failure to pass a bill they thought would be as easy as pie.
There are four lessons Trump can learn from this debacle.
1. Always do your homework on the details of any bill you push.
2. Be wholehearted in your commitment to the bill’s success, rather than lukewarm.
3. Be willing to communicate with the public as well as members of Congress on both sides of the aisle.
4. Refrain from using strong-arm tactics against lawmakers who have opinions that differ from your own.
The new US president has a lot to learn – and he must get up to speed fast if his administration is to be successful.
