Wealth Expo urges folks to invest for retirement

Need some extra money? Well, don’t look at us, but they were handing out valuable ideas at the Future Wealth & Luxury Expo at Siam Paragon last Friday.

The information shared about investing wisely for retirement is available at www.MoneyChannel.co.th and the “Money Channel” Facebook page.
Paiboon Damrongchaitham, Kesara Manchusree, Patcharapimol Youngprapakorn, Boonporn Boriboonsongsilp, Dr Puttipong Poomsuwan, Nandhamalee Bhirombhakdi and Withoon Lertpanomwan were among those dispensing sound advice at the exposition inside Royal Paragon Hall.
Finance Ministry permanent secretary Somchai Sujjapongse hosted the opening ceremony, which was followed by an educational discussion on preparing for retirement.
“The Thai public has very little interest or awareness in saving for the future, compared to people in other countries, who start preparing early on,” Dr Somchai said.
“This issue might lead to Thailand, which is becoming an ageing society, into a stage of high dependency among the elderly. They will need to be supported through policies covering health and wellness and suitable accommodations.
“Encouraging people to be fully aware of this, right from the time they begin working, is essential. They have to plan and invest wisely to ensure a good-quality life and wellness after they retire.”
Juckchai Boonyawat, managing director of Family Know How, underlined the importance of making the public more aware of what the future holds.
“As an affiliated company aligned with the Securities Exchange of Thailand, one of our principle aims is to educate the public regarding investments,” he said.
“We focus mainly on two age groups – people just starting in their careers or midway through, ages 25 to 45, and those further along in their careers, ages 45 to 60, who are financially better prepared.
“Both of these groups are equally important and need to be adequately educated in order to make beneficial investment plans.”
The three-day expo drew thousands of visitors, who explored separate zones devoted to “Wealth”, “Health” and “Luxury”.
