We have noted the article posted in the “Have Your Say” column on January 21 from the so-called “Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China”. We hereby express our grave concern and firm opposition towards this.

It is known to all that there is but one China in the world, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory. The government of the People’s Republic of China is the sole legal government representing the whole China. This has been not only enshrined in a United Nations resolution, but also endorsed by an overwhelming majority of countries around the globe, including the Kingdom of Thailand.

The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Thailand requests The Nation to pay high attention to the aforementioned issue, act in strict accordance with the One China principle, which has long been upheld by the Royal Thai government, and take effective measures to eliminate the harmful impact, including to make corrections by issuing a clarification, and prevent similar incident from happening again.
