Cool and foggy in Upper Thailand, more rain for South
The northeast monsoon prevailing over the Gulf and southern Thailand is strengthening, bringing more rain to the South with heavy downpours likely in the lower South possibly causing flash flooding and landslides, the Thailand Meteorological Department warned on Monday (November 25).
The lower Gulf will be swept by strong winds and rough seas with wave heights above 3 metres. All ships should proceed with caution and keep away from storms. Small boats should stay ashore until November 29.
A rather strong high pressure trough extends to upper Vietnam and the South China Sea. Lowlands in North and the Northeast will be cool and foggy, especially in the mornings, with minimum temperatures of 16-20 °C and it will be cold to very cold on mountaintops with minimums of 6-14 °C.
The weather forecast for the next 24 hours is as follows:
Northern region: Cool weather and fog in the morning, temperature lows of 18-20 degrees and highs of 31-35 degrees Celsius. Temperature likely to drop to 6-14 degrees on hilltops.
Northeastern region: Cool weather and fog in the morning, lows 16-19 degrees and highs of 33-34 degrees Celsius. Temperature likely to drop to 9-14 degrees on hilltops.
Central region: Cool weather and fog in the morning; lows of 19-20 degrees, highs 33-35 degrees Celsius.
Eastern region: Cool weather and mist in the morning; lows 19-22 degrees, highs 33-35 degree Celsius; wave height 1-2 metres.
Southern region (east coast): Cloudy with thunder showers in 60 per cent of the area and partly heavy rains; lows of 21-24 degrees, high 32-34 degrees Celsius; wave height 1-2 metres, increasing to 2 metres during storms.
Southern region (west coast): Cloudy with thunder showers in 40 per cent of the area and partly heavy reains; lows 22-24 degrees, highs 32-33 degree Celsius; wave height 1-2 metres, increasing to 2 metres during storms.
Bangkok and surrounding area: Partly cloudy and misty in the morning; lows of 22-23 degrees, highs 33-36 degrees Celsius.
